Mary Hawkins

Mary is a wonderful New Yorker, who is very creative, sensitive towards others and cares about the environment and the future of our planet earth. It is a blessing to have met Mary here on 43 Things!

Mary is the second 43Thinger that I met in person. When she first walked up to us and introduced herself as Mary I didn’t place it at first even though that is a picture of her as her avatar. Her hair is different now.

I had the pleasure of sitting beside her at Jeckyll & Hyde during our 43Things NYC Meet and felt that personality-wise she and I were the closest of everyone I met that day.

I enjoyed chatting with her about her sister being in the closet and sharing her bathroom with her cat. We’re also on a quest to hit all 50 states and I’m trying to figure out a way I can help her do that.

I’m so glad that we met and the only thing that would’ve made the day better is if we had been able to tie Chuq up and get the secret of the cheer goblin from him.

What’s not to like about Mary?

1. She has the coolest avatar on 43T.

2. She has traveled some fantastic places that I’ve wanted to see but never have.

3. She comes along regularly and cheers damn near everything I write.

4. Her posts and comments are witty, intelligent, and well-written.

I worked on L.I.E. a few years ago, so I saw quite a bit of Paul and his mom around the set that summer. I saw Little Miss Sunshine last night and really enjoyed seeing him in another movie—it was like seeing a distant cousin again who’d grown up in the meantime.

Mary has put an exceptional amount of thought, effort and time into the development of the New York City Locals page.

She seems to enjoy both research and writing.
